Mitsubishi Outlander Child Safety Seat Install

Safety is front of mind with Mitsubishi. For instance, the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander is an IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus. This is the most prestigious award the IIHS awards, and it’s the hardest to obtain. We know safety is important to our customers as well. For over a century, we’ve seen the automotive landscape change, and our customers care more about it than any time before. While vehicle safety is the greatest it’s ever been, certain safety features can be used improperly, possibly causing harm. Nowhere is this more evident than when it comes to child safety seats.

when they ride in your car. But do you know the right way to install that safety device? Yours might be installed improperly. According to the NHTSA, 46% of child safety seats are installed improperly. (See link below.) Automobile accidents are among the leading causes of death for children in the United States. While automotive safety has evolved significantly in recent years, there are still a lot of simple things you can do to keep your children safe in the car.
Recently we teamed up with our friends from the Children’s Home Society of Wet Virginia to learn more about the proper way to install a Child Safety Seat in a 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander. Leah LaPrade from the Children’s Home Society Stopped by to give us some tips. Leah is the Volunteer and Community Support Social Worker. She has received special training and certification to install these child safety seats.

Did You Know?
Children come in all shapes and sizes. Thus, Child Safety Seats come in a variety of sizes too. You need to make sure you’re using the right seat for your children. For instance, some Child Safety Seats are infant-only, while others are convertible. An infant-only child seat must always be used rear-facing while a convertible seat will adapt as your child grows. Convertible Child Safety Seats can be used either rear-facing, or front-facing, depending on the size, weight, and age of your child.
It’s important to remember that not all Child Seats fit all vehicles. Make sure you bring your Child Seat with you when you test drive your next vehicle. If you’re expecting a child, and you’re not certain which child safety seat to buy, be sure to do your research online. You can also register your child’s seat with the NHTSA so that they can send you notices about recalls. Car Seats, like Vehicles, are subject to recalls.
If you live in the Mid-Ohio Valley and would like to have your Child Safety Seat inspected, please be sure to contact the Children’s Home Society. (304) 485-0650
